The Vision
The Vertical dream began when a small group of people had a similar idea at the same time. Richard Knott, songwriter and driving force behind the Magnify band, was Worship Pastor at Elim International Church and had long dreamed of having a recording studio.
Kim Boyce-Campbell had been producing and directing television commercials and programmes for several years and nurtured a dream to do something a bit more meaningful. Brad Dring was enjoying a growing reputation as a live sound engineer, but was itching to turn his talents to the studio. All three were keen to work with other artists and creative people in a collaborative space. And it just so happened that Elim International Church was about to undergo a building programme. Ric, Kim and Brad put together a proposal for a purpose-built space comprising recording studio, edit suite and graphic design studio to Elim. The proposal was accepted by a very forward-thinking leadership team, and thus was Vertical born.
“Vertical Studios is an awesome opportunity to cultivate the huge creative talent within our own church as well as in the local and national community, both Christian and secular. We are passionate about seeing God exalted in our nation and in the nations of the earth, and music on CD will go a lot further than any group or individual can go. Quite literally, nations can be touched and influenced through our own music. Establishing our own studios means we can achieve this on a regular basis.” - Ric Knott.
“I’ve seen the most amazing work being done to transform lives and communities, often by groups running on the smell of an oily rag. There’s nothing better than partnering with these groups to enhance their communication with the public and support bases. A story well-told can change hearts and minds, can even prompt a bit of reaching into pockets!” - Kim Boyce-Campbell
