PROTEA - emblem of South Africa
Can fire produce a harvest? There are some interesting parallels from nature…
There are plants in Mediterrranean type climates that require the heat of passing fire in order for them to germinate. Nations such as Chile, South Africa, and Australia are places where these will be found. In Australia whole areas of bush may look to be totally destroyed by fire, yet there are seeds that have been lying in the soil for a number of seasons that have such hard shells that they can only be scarified by the heat of fire. Then, when the rains come, these seeds will be germinated and a scene of devastation will begin to sprout new and vigorous growth. The Protea is such a plant found in South Africa.
Are there not some parallels in our experiences. It seems that there are seeds we have sown in the past that have not brought any return, yet they have been lying dormant, waiting for a passing fire in our lives that will cause them to spring up and bring in a harvest for us. I believe the seeds for revival have been sown in South Africa that have been scarified by fire. These are seeds of a coming revival and harvest. The following scripture seems to reflect this thought forour lives …
We went through fire and flood, but you brought us to a place of great abundance. Psalms 66:12 (NLT)
Why not take a moment to wait in the presence of the Lord, asking him to bring the rain of His Spirit to water the seeds that you have sown, and that you realise have been scorched by fiery trials in your life.
A harvest awaits you!
