At our doorstep

While many of us head overseas to the nations, God has also brought many from the nations to us!

Operation Friendship

It is a hospitality and friendship programme for international students at tertiary institutions. The students come from many countries and are most non-Christian. Buddhists, Muslims, Hindu, Communist, no-faith Europeans, and Chinese are in the majority. They are eager to experience Kiwi hospitality and culture.

Christian families, singles, married with no kids, retired folk, all are welcome to be Friendship partners and we always need more. Students often come from large families and are very homesick. Some have left wives or husbands and children and can feel very alone.
What is involved?

  • Loving and praying for your student. The Lord opens doors. Include your student in family activities. It doesn’t have to be a special occasion.
  • Contact them regularly to see how they’re doing.
  • Arrange for them to phone you at a specific time.
  • Assist them with practical needs where appropriate\
  • Join in what some of the Operation Friendship activities and have fun.

You can make a difference in this world, without going overseas, by sharing God’s love with future international leaders that are studying here in NZ.

International Students

Education in NZ has been a huge attraction for students from all around the globe. Imagine this - they receive the Gospel in NZ, return home and become leaders in their home countries. That is equivalent to sending out hundreds of missionaries annually!

Student ministries such as the Wellington International Christian Fellowship and Christian Union are key in reaching out to these students and being living witnesses around the campus.
